In 1938, Jaffa, now part of Tel Aviv-Jaffa in Israel, was a vibrant Arab city with a rich history and cultural diversity. Street scenes from this period show various aspects of urban life. The streets of Jaffa were characterised by historic buildings with a mixture of Arab, Ottoman and European architecture. People can be seen in narrow alleyways where children played and traders advertised their wares. Scenes of donkey carts transporting goods and craftsmen demonstrating their skills on the street.
