Description
D-Day 1944
Historical background
In 1944, war correspondent Jack Lieb was sent to England by the American News of the Day agency to report on the planned landing of Allied troops in Normandy. He used his private 16 mm film camera to shoot additional colour footage alongside the news images. This part of the film footage shows images of London and the south coast of England taken in May 1944. The commentary text is spoken by Jack Lieb. He edited his material for a screening in the 1960s.
