Description

Hellmuth von Mücke in Berlin in 1915.

Hellmuth von Mücke (25 June 1881, Zwickau – 30 July 1957, Ahrensburg) was an officer in the Imperial Navy who became known above all as the leader of a small group of German sailors who made their way back to Germany from the Indian Ocean during the First World War. During the Weimar Republic, he was active as a politician and writer. During the National Socialist era, he was ostracised for his journalistic activities – and in the young Federal Republic of Germany, he campaigned vehemently against rearmament.
