U.S. President John F. Kennedy visited the Federal Republic of Germany from June 23 to 26, 1963. The visit took place in the context of the Cold War and served to reaffirm the German-American partnership as well as solidarity with West Berlin following the construction of the Wall in 1961. Kennedy’s appearances were received by the population with great enthusiasm.
