Historical background

In 1944, war correspondent Jack Lieb was sent to England by the American News of the Day agency to report on the planned landing of Allied troops in Normandy. He used his private 16 mm film camera to shoot additional colour footage alongside the news images. This second part of the film footage shows images of the Normandy landings in June 1944 and the commentary text is spoken by Jack Lieb. He edited his material for a screening in the 1960s. Film length 11:05.
