The wreck of a German “Panther” tank lies in the centre of Stachus, a relic of the last battles for Munich. The massive steel hull is riddled with bullet holes, the gun barrel protrudes motionless into the air. A track has been blown up, the chassis is half stuck in the rubble.
There is rubble and scattered ammunition all around, the surrounding buildings are badly damaged. But the scene is quiet – no more fighting, no more soldiers. The war is over, but its traces remain.
