Swastika flag becomes German national flag.

Historical background

Swastika flag becomes German national flag. On March 12, 1933, a decree issued by Reich President Paul von Hindenburg ordered that the black-white-red flag and the swastika flag were to be flown together from the following day until the final regulation of the colors of the Reich. Paul von Hindenburg’s decree de facto suspended Article 3 of the Weimar Constitution (“The colors of the Reich shall be black, red and gold”). Hitler declared the swastika flag to be the official national symbol as early as July 9, 1933. The provisional regulation of national flags was valid until September 15, 1935, when the Nazi flag becomes the sole flag of the Reich.
