After the end of the war, captured German weapons and rockets were publicly exhibited in the United States to demonstrate to the population the technical capabilities of the enemy. The engine of the V2 (A4) — Germany’s ballistic long-range missile, which was deployed against London and Antwerp from 1944 onward — was among the most spectacular exhibits of such displays. Jack Lieb documented this exhibition at the end of his color film “D-Day to Germany” along with other captured equipment such as the Me 262 and Junkers aircraft. The V2 is considered a precursor to modern rocket technology and was intensively studied by both superpowers after the end of the war.
