The photograph shows a large, well-attended public outdoor swimming pool in Frankfurt am Main. In the foreground lies an extensive swimming basin, along whose edge numerous bathers stand; in the background, spectators crowd onto the galleries of a multi-story bathing facility in the Reform style. On the left side of the image rises a multi-tiered diving tower, on whose upper platform two people in bathing suits stand. A dense pine forest closes off the grounds toward the rear and points to the location of the pool on the city’s edge. In the travel film, this shot represents Frankfurt’s urban leisure and bathing culture and supplements the city portraits ranging between Römerberg and spa scenes in the Taunus.
