The photograph shows one of the richly decorated pavilions of the Dresden Zwinger with its characteristic sculptural ornament, large round-arched windows, and plastic balustrade crowning. In the inner courtyard, construction scaffolding, wooden boarding, and piled building materials are visible, indicating extensive restoration measures on the complex. To the right is the adjoining lower arched gallery that frames the inner courtyard. The Zwinger, a major work of German Baroque, appeared in the travel film as part of the Dresden section on reel 3 and was presented as a cultural highlight of the Elbe city. The visible construction work gives the image a documentary character that extends beyond the mere representation of the architectural monument.
