The photograph shows the Elisabethenbrunnen in the Kurpark of Bad Homburg vor der Höhe with its distinctive monopteros rotunda temple set upon a broad, multi-flight open staircase. Figural reliefs on the balustrades and sculptural ornament at the stairway approaches underscore the representative character of this fountain installation from the nineteenth century. Numerous spa guests in contemporary attire animate the grounds and convey the refined spa life of a distinguished resort. In the background extends the dense tree growth of the Kurpark. The 1937 travel film presents Bad Homburg together with Wiesbaden as an example of Germany’s tradition-rich spa culture. The photograph exemplifies the social life at one of the renowned therapeutic baths in the Taunus.
