In June 1963, U.S. President John F. Kennedy traveled with Air Force One on his visit to Germany, which took him to Cologne, Bonn, Frankfurt, and West Berlin, among other destinations. The photograph shows the presidential Boeing VC-137 on an airport apron, accompanied by additional U.S. military aircraft and reception personnel. The visit took place in the context of the Cold War and Western solidarity with the Federal Republic and West Berlin following the construction of the Wall in 1961.
