On D-Day, June 6, 1944, commanders and staff officers observed the invasion operations off the Normandy coast from aboard their ships. This color footage by Jack Lieb was taken during the landing at Utah Beach, where he arrived with a seaborne element of the 82nd Airborne Division. The image is part of the embarkation and landing phase of Lieb’s film—one of the rare color documents of these events.
