The photograph shows the Kurhaus Wiesbaden from the park side: In the middle ground, the neoclassical building with its columned portico and shallow dome is reflected in a rectangular basin. On the right in the foreground, a multi-tiered cascade fountain is visible, while trees and ornamental plants frame the scene on the left. The Kurhaus, erected in the early nineteenth century, is the central landmark of Wiesbaden’s spa operations. In the 1937 travel film, this photograph stands as representative of the elegant spa town at the foot of the Taunus, presented together with Bad Homburg as a fashionable spa resort. The image conveys the representative park grounds and neoclassical architecture as typical features of German spa town design.
