The photograph shows a two-deck riverboat mooring, with its smokestack emitting clearly visible smoke. In the foreground on the right, workers can be seen on a smaller escort vessel handling ropes or lines. In the background, the broad waterway opens up, with a flat city skyline visible on the opposite bank. The photographic context of the travel film, together with the characteristic width of the river and the type of vessel, point to the Rhine, which appears multiple times in the film itinerary as a central travel motif. The scene represents in the travel film the significance of the Rhine as a busy shipping route and tourist destination of the 1930s.
