This photograph belongs to the closing sequence of Jack Lieb’s color film, which documents captured German weapons and aircraft. The Me 262 shown here bears the US designation FE-111 (Foreign Equipment), indicating its registration through the American Air Technical Intelligence program. The painted inscription records the German pilot’s aerial victory tally and was apparently highlighted specifically for documentation or exhibition purposes. The Me 262, the world’s first jet fighter aircraft to enter operational service, was subjected to intensive technical evaluation by the Allies after the war’s end.
