Allied air superiority was a fundamental prerequisite for the success of the invasion in Normandy in June 1944. RAF units secured the airspace over the English Channel and the landing sectors and supported the Allied advance. Jack Lieb captured such aerial footage as part of his color film material documenting the preparation and execution of Operation Overlord.
