After the landing in Normandy in June 1944, Allied air superiority was a decisive factor in the success of ground operations. Jack Lieb captured air combat scenes with his 16mm Kodachrome camera, documenting the air war over the invasion area. Color footage from this phase of the campaign is a rarity.
