In the period before and during the landings in Normandy (June 1944), Allied bomber formations conducted intensive operations in support of ground troops. Targets included Atlantic Wall fortifications, transportation hubs, and German troop positions. Jack Lieb captured such air operations on his 16-mm Kodachrome material, which documents events in color during a phase of the Western campaign otherwise recorded almost exclusively in black and white.
