Jack Lieb filmed in London and on the south English coast in May 1944, while the Allied forces were preparing the invasion of Normandy. In addition to military scenes, he also captured everyday moments—including playing children. Such footage shows civilian life in a city that had experienced air raids since 1940 and was now a staging area for the largest amphibious operation of the Second World War.
