In the lead-up to D-Day, May 1944, Allied forces concentrated enormous quantities of personnel and equipment in southern England for the planned invasion of Normandy. Vehicle convoys such as this moved toward the embarkation ports on the south English coast. Jack Lieb documented this preparation phase as one of the few cameramen recording in color, while nearly all other footage of the same events survives exclusively in black and white.
