Mont-Saint-Michel was one of the locations Jack Lieb visited after the landing in Normandy and the advance through the interior. The medieval monastery island had remained largely intact during the German occupation and was reached by Allied forces shortly after the landing in the summer of 1944. Lieb’s color footage of Mont-Saint-Michel shows the site during a brief pause in the advance before continuing toward Paris.
