After the entry of Allied troops in late August 1944, public life quickly returned to Paris. Jack Lieb captured scenes from liberated Paris in his private Kodachrome photographs, images that otherwise survive almost exclusively in black and white. The photograph shows Parisian citizens at a public event—possibly at one of the racetracks that reopened shortly after liberation—and documents the rapid transition from occupation routine to normalcy.
