Paris was liberated from German occupation troops on August 25, 1944. Jack Lieb was in the city during this phase with the Allied forces and documented not only the entry of troops but also scenes of returning daily life. A street painter with a Parisian cityscape on his easel stands as representative of the cultural life that reappeared in public spaces immediately after the occupation period. Such color footage from liberated Paris is a rare exception compared to the otherwise black-and-white photographic material of these events.
