In June 1963, U.S. President John F. Kennedy visited the Federal Republic of Germany. The visit took place in the context of the Cold War and served to reaffirm the transatlantic partnership as well as the American security guarantee for West Germany and West Berlin. Kennedy delivered several public addresses during his trip before accompanying delegations and the broader population.
