During his visit to Germany from June 23 to 26, 1963, U.S. President John F. Kennedy delivered brief remarks at several stops, often upon arrival or departure at airports or official forecourts. The scene shows such an occasion: representatives of the American and German sides as well as security personnel gather at an improvised microphone podium. The visit took place in the context of the Cold War and served to reaffirm the transatlantic partnership as well as the American security guarantee for the Federal Republic and West Berlin.
