During the course of U.S. President John F. Kennedy’s visit to Germany from June 23 to 26, 1963, numerous official receptions and meetings with German politicians were documented. The visit took place in the context of the Cold War and served to reaffirm the transatlantic partnership as well as the American security guarantee for the Federal Republic and West Berlin. Kennedy was accompanied by leading representatives of the Federal Republic, including Chancellor Konrad Adenauer and Governing Mayor Willy Brandt.
