During U.S. President John F. Kennedy’s visit to Germany in June 1963, large crowds lined the streets in many places. This photograph shows a small child in a baby carriage at the edge of such a crowd of spectators. The visit triggered great enthusiasm among the West German and West Berlin population and is regarded as a significant event in German-American relations during the Cold War.
