President John F. Kennedy’s visit to Germany from June 23–26, 1963 was a central event of the Cold War. Photographs such as these document public appearances and speeches that Kennedy delivered during the multi-day journey through the Federal Republic and West Berlin. The visit gained particular significance through the speech in front of the Schöneberg Town Hall on June 26, 1963, which was perceived as a strong signal of Western solidarity toward the divided city.
