During US President John F. Kennedy’s visit to Germany from June 23 to 26, 1963, Chancellor Konrad Adenauer delivered public addresses at several stops along the journey. Adenauer accompanied Kennedy as host and principal representative of the Federal Republic. The visit took place against the backdrop of the Cold War and the construction of the Wall in 1961, and served to reaffirm the transatlantic alliance.
