Chancellor Konrad Adenauer delivers remarks during the visit to Germany by U.S. President John F. Kennedy from June 23 to 26, 1963. The visit took place during the height of the Cold War, two years after the construction of the Berlin Wall, and was intended to reaffirm the transatlantic alliance between the United States and the Federal Republic of Germany. Adenauer accompanied Kennedy on several legs of the journey through Germany.
