After the outbreak of fire during the landing maneuver on May 6, 1937, LZ 129 Hindenburg sank to the ground of Naval Air Station Lakehurst, New Jersey within seconds. The aluminum skeleton of the Zeppelin lies on the ground and is still in flames; dense smoke rises. This phase immediately after the crash documents the complete failure of the landing attempt and the end of the Hindenburg’s last commercial transatlantic flight. 36 people lost their lives in the disaster.
