Following the liberation of Paris at the end of August 1944, victory parades took place, accompanied by numerous Allied press representatives and newsreel cameramen. Jack Lieb was on location as a cameraman for the Hearst newsreel ‘News of the Day’ and documented the events as one of the few in color. The photograph shows a colleague filming in the midst of the action and illustrates how dense the media presence was at this historic moment. Paris was a central moment of coverage for the Allied correspondents after weeks of the Normandy campaign.
