Following the entry of Allied and French troops into Paris, a victory parade took place on the Champs-Élysées on August 26, 1944. The parade symbolized the end of German occupation of the French capital, which had lasted since June 1940. Jack Lieb captured this event as one of the highlights of his color film report — a rare color footage of a moment that is otherwise almost exclusively preserved in black and white.
