Jack Lieb filmed the liberation of Paris in August 1944 as part of his advance report from Normandy to Germany. Paris was liberated on August 25, 1944, after Allied troops and the Forces françaises de l’Intérieur had overcome German occupation. The footage shows the population amid celebration – a rare color record of an event that was otherwise documented almost exclusively in black and white.
