In June 1963, U.S. President John F. Kennedy visited the Federal Republic of Germany—one of the most significant stops of transatlantic diplomacy during the Cold War. The photograph shows Kennedy at an official reception ceremony, presumably on the occasion of one of the arrival or welcome events during the multi-day visit.
