The footage belongs to Jack Lieb’s unique color film material documenting the Normandy landing of June 6, 1944. Lieb accompanied a sea-based element of the 82nd Airborne Division at Utah Beach and documented with his private 16-mm Kodachrome camera scenes that otherwise survived almost exclusively in black and white. The image shows US soldiers in full equipment moving along a dock – a typical scene from the hectic troop movements during embarkation in England or the immediate landing phase in Normandy.
