On June 6, 1944, Allied troops landed at several beach sectors in Normandy as part of Operation Overlord. This footage shows British soldiers crossing the beach under the title D-Day. Jack Lieb filmed the landing phase with his private 16-mm Kodachrome camera, so scenes of the largest amphibious operation of the Second World War are preserved in color material that is rare today. The footage appears in the early part of the film, immediately after the crossing of the English Channel.
