After the fire that completely destroyed the Hindenburg in less than a minute, the deformed remains of the aluminum framework and gondolas lay on the ground at Lakehurst. This phase of the film material documents the immediate aftermath of the disaster of May 6, 1937. The wreckage of the LZ 129 was inspected in the following days by authorities and investigation commissions; the images are among the central documents of the event.
