Jack Thompson was among the American war correspondents who prepared in southern England in spring 1944 for the impending invasion. Lieb captured several journalist colleagues on Kodachrome film during this phase – including Ernie Pyle and Larry LeSueur. Such portrait shots from the press corps were taken in the context of embarkation preparations and document the milieu of accredited reporters shortly before D-Day.
