Jack Lieb recorded the preparation phase in England in his color film before the Allied troops departed for the invasion of Normandy. This shot from London in 1944 shows the civilian wartime everyday life: a police officer on duty, in the background a poster advertisement for war bonds (‘Savings for Victory’), which reflects the British home front atmosphere of spring 1944. As a rare color document, the scene illustrates the contrast between London’s orderly city life and the imminent major events of the war.
