This photograph was taken in May 1944 in London and belongs to the opening sequence of Lieb’s film, which documents everyday life in England immediately before D-Day. Speakers’ Corner in Hyde Park was a well-known public meeting place that remained in operation even during the war. Lieb’s color footage from this period shows London in the weeks when Allied forces were gathering on England’s south coast for the Normandy landing.
