After the landing in Normandy (June 1944), Allied forces rapidly advanced inland. Many towns in Normandy had been severely damaged or completely destroyed by combat and air raids. Jack Lieb documented this advance with his 16mm Kodachrome camera in color — a rare form of documentation for this phase of the war. The footage is part of the period between the landings and the liberation of Paris (August 1944).
